The third (already!) NoracTime x AndoAndoAndo collaboration is now available! What is it? Pendant watches, also usable as desk clocks. The model is created by AndoAndoAndo and the dial is entirely hand-painted by NoracTime.
About the painting:
The idea is to honor one of Japan's most iconic animals: the carp. "Koi" 鯉 in Japanese, this fish represents a lot in Japanese culture: love, courage, bravery, and perseverance. Thus, it is naturally found in parks and gardens, but also in tattoos, artworks, and ceramics. It is in the spirit of the latter that I decided to paint these carps on AndoAndoAndo's pendant watches (a meaning that will surely resonate with him).
The blue one, in its silver case, easily blends with ornamental paintings found on a vase or tableware. Since the blue carp obviously doesn't exist, it is attributed artistic virtues, calmness, and serenity.
The red one, in its golden case, draws its inspiration from two real-life koi carp versions. The Yamabuki koi has a yellow coat with metallic, sometimes golden, reflections. The Tancho koi is mottled white, adorned with a red spot only on its head. This carp is highly prized in Japan for its resemblance to the flag of the Land of the Rising Sun. For their meaning, Yamabuki are said to bring money, while Tancho brings honor. On the watch? The perfect mix between the two!
